Very little pain: Patients tell me they experience just a little discomfort in the gingiva (gums) where the implant is placed and usually just tylenol, (acetaminophen) Ibuprofen or Aspirin is needed for the discomfort. Speak with the dentist placing the implants if you have more concerns.

Implants: Implant placement is much less painful than the extraction was. Patients typically do well with just OTC pain relievers for a single implant. The dentist placing your implant will answer all your questions about this procedure and let you know what to expect.

New implants: It's a relatively easy procedure for the patient. You will get local anesthesia to make sure you do not feel anything for the entire procedure. Most patients say getting an implant was easy before and after the procedure than having a tooth extracted. Afterwards there is usually little or not swelling and mild to moderate discomfort. NSAIDS are usually enough and mostly for first day only.
