No: If your tooth hurts, you may not need to lose it. Root canal therapy, done through the crown, may eliminate the pain and solve the problem. If the tooth is lost, then the existing crown will not be usable since the tooth on which it once fit is not the same shape at the gumline as the implant and thus its fit will be unacceptable.

Custom made crown.: Usually a cast gold crown is made to fit a tooth. It cannot be used for another one. You need another crown made to fit the implant abutment. If the tooth hurts after a crown is cemented on it, you may need a root canal since the nerve is damaged by the previous large/deep decay. After root canal is performed then usually no more pain. You should be able to chew on that tooth again.

Diagnosis first: The first thing to do is to determine the cause of the pain. It might be a bite problem that a simple adjustment will resolve, or a gum problem that needs attention, or a nerve problem requiring root canal therapy. If it is decided that the tooth cannot or is not worth saving, you cannot reuse the same crown. Each crown is fabricated to fit exactly. Anything less is a recipe for failure.

No: Using a previous gold crown on a dental implant is not the way to restore proper function and esthetics. If finances are a concern, sell the gold crown and use that money towards the investment of a properly fitting crown on your implant. You wouldn't take old tires and make them fit on a new car that took different sizes would you? Same thing here friend ! keep smiling !
