No/Yes: It is less likely that you would experience worsening of TMJ pain as most facial is superficial and rather relaxing for most people. However, many patients who have TMJ issues also have very sensitive facial muscles and joints. Keeping the head still while receiving the treatment may lead to some temporary discomfort. Ask if you can take a few, quick break in between during facial treatment.

Doubt it: You would have to do a self evaluation if your tmj/tmd gets worse after a facial, but i doubt it.

TMJ/TMD: Tmj/ tmd usually comes from bruxism (chronic grinding and/or clenching the teeth), a bad bite, or trauma or arthritis to the joint. Are you wearing a night guard? Do you brux during the day as well as at night? If this is getting worse, you should see a dentist to diagnose and treat the pain.

Unlikely but possibl: Possible, unlikely. If the TMJ has been very sensitive, any manipulation in the area could temporarily increase symptoms.

The Opposite is True: Facial massage is one of many techniques that can ameliorate the cause of TMJ disorders. Regular facial therapy can make a big difference.
