Generally: No. You should speak to your dental surgeon and have the procedure explained from topical placement through delivery of the extracted tooth. You may feel pressure however you should feel no pain.

Scale of 1-10: I have extracted hundreds of teeth. After each extraction, i call my patient the next day to see how they are doing. I ask a simple, yet important question, "on a scale of 1-10, what would you rate your level of discomfort?" the answer is usually a 3 or less. Many, many times the patient will answer a "zero", meaning no pain at all. This really is a normal reply for most doctors, so rest easy.
