DIY dentistry: It's not as easy as you think, and even if you were successful, how would you make yourself a retainer to hold the teeth in place? They'll shift back without a retainer.. Do it incorrectly, and you can have bone loss, necrotic teeth, and bite problems. Lots of projects can be done by handy people.. Please leave the dentistry to the licensed professionals.

Rubber bands?: With something as unrefined as rubber bands without proper orthodontic brackets, even if you closed some spaces, you would open up others. People have also created severe periodontal bone loss trying this on their own. You are looking for trouble and won't get the results you want anyway. Do nothing or see an orthodontist.

Dangerous: Improperly controlled can cause irreversible damage. At best if you close space between 2 teeth you will open 2 spaces on the other sides of both teeth. And sometimes tissue between teeth requires treatment. Please don't do this. There's a reason that it takes 10+ years of training beyond high school to become an Orthodontist and then know how to safely and efficiently close tooth gaps.
