A member asked:

How accurate is the plac test on predicting circulatory events? mine is a 284 but my lipids are fine, non-diabetic and good bp. am i at great risk?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unknown: The plac test measures vascular inflammation. Levels above 200 are associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease, independent of lipid levels. Taking statins lowers the level. However, there are no studies yet demonstrating that treatment with statins for high plac when lipid levels are normal, is of any benefit.
