I'm fine now, but is a loss of being able to connect with reality attributed to the depression and anxiety i was having?

Unclear: I'm not sure what's meant by "loss of being able to connect with reality, " but it's certainly possible to be psychotic when depressed. The psychiatrist treating you would check for such symptoms, and offer appropriate treatment -- which would often include antipsychotic medications. Psychosis is also possible from use of marijuana, other drugs, and alcohol. Please discuss fully w/your doctor.
