Citalopram?: I think you are confusing citalopram, an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication which affects serotonin, and clonazepam, a benzodiazepine used for anxiety. Citalopram is available in 20 mg strength, Clonazepam is available in 0.5-2 mg strengths. Citalopram is used for 6-12 months, Clonazepam should be used only short-term (a few weeks if possible), though some take it for much longer.

Hard to say: Some people are much more resistant to medication and are harder to become addicted. I would err on the conservative side and follow your pcp's advice. Addiction to these types of medications are dangerous and often require hospitalization.
