Scared of lymphoma. no swollen nodes per dr. lost 15lbs in 1.5 months because of no appetite. doc says it was dep/anxiety. on amitriptyline 10mg, appetite is back, not gaining/losing weight, lymphoma?

Not to fear: Your doctor sounds correct. If the appetite is back, then that is very strong evidence that he/she was correct. You are fortunate to respond to such a small dose of medication.

Lymphoma: Sounds like your md is correct, symptoms more consistent with anxiety or depression. If the appetite is back on Amitriptyline that is good sign.

Diagnosing: I believe in doing a complete history and physical exam. Getting an impression. Then a plan. First a diagnostic plan which includes blood tests, x-rays , ct if i think it is necessary. Your physician knows you and perhaps she is aware that you have depression and anxiety. Hopefully you tell her about your diet and exercise. Perhaps that is why you are prescribed amitryptyline. Never assume.
