Take his Meds: Your dad has lots of risks for heart and vascular disease, but having those issues is not a guarantee. The best advice is to take his medications religiously - they do reduce the risk over time. Also a healthy diet, and 30 minutes of aerobic exercise 5 days week will bring huge benefits over the years.

Keep control: To minimize his risk of complications, he needs to keep his bp, cholesterol and blood sugars under control. He needs regular follow up with his doctors. He needs to see the eye doctor at least yearly. No walking barefoot. Inspect feet daily. No smoking.
