A member asked:

When doctors get lab results back if they are bad results do they contact the patient sooner? like a disease or virus. like cancer for example?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: It would have to depend on the time sensitivity of the result. If it is something that needs to be acted upon quickly-where the administration of a medication or surgery makes a big difference, then the patients are contacted sooner. If it is a bad result that is best to discuss face to face, i like to have the patient come in when they are able so that i can discuss the results in more detail.
