Surgery will help: In chronic conditions without patellar arthritis, excising the degenerative ligament and usuall there is a loose piece of eburnated bone in a bursal lined cavity under the degenerative ligament. Excise the loose body and roughen up the bone and sew the ligament into the bone with suture anchors.
