Stuffy nose: Your symptoms are consistent with rhinosinusitis or inflammation/swollen of the nasosinus mucosa. In the US, the most common cause of it is allergy. Interestingly, when you lay down one side or the other, your body will try to cause vasoconstriction on one side of the nostril so you feel it open up a little. However, when the inflammation is severe, both will be plugged.
