Weights not required: Usually aerobic exercises such as walking, jogging, swimming, and bike riding to name a few are better for weight loss programs.

Can help weight loss: Although not necessary for weight loss, resistance (weight) training will burn calories and continues to burn calories for hours after exercise, whereas cardiovascular exercise will likely burn more calories but only during the time you exercise. A combination of weights and cardio exercise will be more effective than either activity alone for most people.
