Tejocote root (mexican hawthorn) (manzanita) is a natural plant found in Mexico. There are 14 different types and there is no standardization to the products. There are claims about weight loss, but data suggests that it is merely a diuretic and a laxative. Taking too much Tejocote root may result in toxicity which may cause dysrhythmias and respiratory depression.
