Should a dr. be concerned with prescribing zyprexa/seroquel/resperdal to a diabetic?

Somewhat: As much as these meds can aggravate dm control/trigger increases if these are for the right purpose one should prescibe these.

We always are: Yes, we are always concerned about using these medications and someone especially already has diabetes. This is where it is important for the psychiatrist explained the endocrinologist or family doctor why the medication is absolutely necessary and why other perhaps better options are not possible. Sometimes however we are just backed into a corner and have to use one of these medications and although it's not optimal, working with the endocrinologist we can most of the time provide adequate diabetes management with the current diabetes medications that are available today.
