I have a centrally located 2.7cm lung nodule. ct shows small amnt. of fat. dr said may be hamartoma but most are located peripherally. i am x-smoker?

Biopsy: You must get a lung biopsy this is a big nodule in a high risk patient.

Referral: Past smoking puts you at risk for cancer at any time of your life. A benign finding is only benign if proven by a tissue if you have the risk. A 2.7 cm nodule is pretty big and should be worked up. A pet scan can give an indication but still a tissue is the utmost in diagnosis.
