Yes abdominal hernia: Can go back in (reducible) or remain outside (irreducible). Acid reflux won't cause or contribute to abdominal/ventral hernia formation. However hiatal hernia (part of the stomach is pulled up into the chest cavity) may cause acid reflux. Take care! http://www.shouldice.com/how_do_you_get_hernia.htm. http://www.m.webmd.com/heartburn-gerd/guide/what-is-acid-reflux-disease.

Both: The bulge is also known as the hernia sac and contains organs that belong inside. When the bulge is present, it is called incarcerated. When the bulge is "back in" or reduced the risk of problems is less. Surgeons recommend hernia repair to decrease the risk of incarceration and worse. Reflux is not a typical contributor to abdominal wall hernias. Be well.
