Possible impingement: It means that degenerative changes at that level are causing bone formation that is narrowing the opening where the C4 nerve root exits the canal. This can cause compression of the nerve root causing pain in that nerve's distribution (cervical radiculopathy). Your doctor can determine if you have pain that corresponds to that nerve root.
