Very difficult: To answer with very little clinical information ; surgical history. Is this a new or recurrent inguinal hernia? Ascites makes surgical repair difficult, even if "controlled" with high risks of complications, such as ascites leak, infection, hernia repair failure, and risks of making things worse. You may need to be evaluated at a major medical center or university. Best wishes.

Risk factor: Not only that your healing will be poor, liver cirrhosis patient carries a high risk under anesthesia. Talk to your pcp about it.

Inguinal surgery: If you don't trust your doctor, then perhaps you should get another opinion fron a different doctor.
