Cirrhosis pt had 2 separate inguinal hernias repaired, now navel hernia can this also be repaired? ascites present.

Discuss with surgeon: This requires an assessment of the benefits and risk of the procedure. With ascites many surgeons may be reticent to operate on this. You need to choose a surgeon, have them examine you and discuss the options, good luck.

umbilical hernia: In a cirrhosis patient who has ascites, the liver disease is quite advanced. Therefore, any surgery can put the patient at significant risk. For an umbilical (navel) hernia, it should not be repaired in this type of patient unless it is an emergency.
