Yes: Absolutely, cbt can work. Essentially, cbt challenges your thought pattens, by helping you to recognize the unhealthy ones, see the effect they have, and change them. If you are willing to go through that process, and participate well, it may well help you.

Research says YES: CBT has been found effective in treating many disorders including hypochondria. Research on common factors also shows that the way you perceive your therapist is very important. If you think that he/she cares about you and knows what they are talking about then the likelihood of the treatment being effective is MUCH higher.
