What are some probable connections between weight loss and tmj ?

Eating hurts: If chewing is uncomfortable then a person might be inclined to eat less. If weight loss is desired there are a lot better ways.

RARE: There is no relation between both conditions, unless, the TMJ problem is preventing you to eat right (not eating enogh).

Which is first?: I'm not clear if the question is about losing weight first, then experiencing TMJ pain or getting TMJ pain then losing weight. Significant weight loss often results in the muscle and fat volume inside the mouth, which may cause the way you chew, speak, swallow, and breathe. As a result, the joints (TMJ) may undergo change. In addition, tmjs are often affected by hormonal changes.

Eat less with pain: I've seen weight loss in some patients because it is painful to eat. Otherwise no relationship.
