Several: Most sports can continue during pregnancy, unless they are contact sports. The safest type of athletic activity for women, especially after the second trimester, is swimming. The pressure of the water helps alleviate lower extremity swelling. Pregnant women tend to have trouble with balance and swimming provides a good activity where balance is not a factor.
