Vitreous floater: The symptoms you describe are most consistent with a vitreous floater. The vitreous jelly gives support and volume to the posterior chamber of the eye. There are small strands of connective tissue that run through it. Sometimes this connective tissue becomes visible. Usually, it is not a problem, but see an eye md to rule out more serious conditions like bleeding or a torn retina.
