It is possible that : A disc herniation is leading to a cauda equina syndrome which occurs in 1% of disc herniations leading to a severe compression of the nerves leading to bladder control issues with the urine being retained ; it overflowing intermittently mimicing frequency and leading to back pain or it could be a urinary tract infection causing both symptoms so see a doctor or go to er immediately for evaluation.
