Not common: The incidence of gallstones in obese patients undergoing bariatric procedures is about 15%. While this is itself a risk factor for pancreatitis, fortunately, in large series of bariatric procedures, the incidence of post-operative pancreatitis is less than 1% during the hospitalization for the bariatric procedure.

Yes: Sometimes the pancreas can get irritated during the surgery and lead to pancreatitis. There have been cases of portal vein thrombosis after sleeve gastrectomy.
