Change diet: The cause of pancreatitis should be determined, was it from gallstones? From excessive alcohol use? From too high triglyceride levels? From medications? This should be dealt with first. Open debridement of pancreatitis suggests this was quite severe. After recovery, what you can do is minimize alcohol use, reduce fat intake and ask doctor to see if patient needs pancreatic enzyme replacement.
