What is the best way to treat bone infections in the big toe?

Depends: How did the infection occur and how long has it been there. Antibiotics may take care of it, or it may require surgery to clean out the infection.

There are two: Primary ways: antibiotics or removal of infection. Obviously, keeping the toe is the priority. Antibiotics need to be geared towards the offending organism. Cultures should be taking, sometimes the specimen should come from the bone for better accuracy though not always as you don't want to risk further contamination. Labs are important to follow infection i.E wbc, esr, xrays important as well.
