Can you tell me if there are things a skin biopsy don't show?

Dr. Gurmukh Singhanswered
Pathology 51 years experience
Too many to list: Skin biopsy will only show the changes in the structure of the skin. A lot of metabolic disorders, and systemic disorders do not produce specific changes in the skin, e.g., atherosclerotic heart disease, dementia, breast cancer and so on. You need to have a specific reason to do a skin biopsy and should consult the pathologist for the results.
