How do i treat this ache in the thumb and arm?

Aching pain in the: Thumb and arm is very vague to comment on exactly but first line treatment involves rest ice gene elevation and use of over counter medications. More specific questions are where in the thumb, forearm or arm ? Constant or with activity, any tingling or numbess?
