Xanax (alprazolam) and anxiety: You would not be in withdrawal from xanax (alprazolam) after only 1 dose. However, it's possible to have a paradoxical agitated (rather than relaxed) reaction. If you've been taking xanax (alprazolam) regularly and then stop, you can have withdrawal symptoms that overlap with the symptoms you might have from anxiety itself. Extreme anxiety can also be part of a withdrawal syndrome.
