A member asked:

On a night when feeling low, id often wake up a few times in fright, from 'hearing' things like someone trying to open window. very unpleasant. scary?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nighttime paranoia: If you do not feel paranoid during the day, then these are hypnopompic hallucinations. These can be benign but frightening. They are usually visual however. It is possible that this represents a response to sleep disordered breathing as well if your oxygen drops at night. Please see your doctor to be evaluated for possible apnea or nighttime oxygen desaturation. Consider nighttime hypoglycemia.
