Ok: Palate usually fuses by 8-12 weeks, and can't unfuse. What is your concern? Is there a hx of cleft palate in your family? Please discuss concerns w your pediatrician.

Cleft Palate: Normally the palate has formed before 14 weeks gestation. However, early ultrasound screening can miss cleft lip and palate depending on the quality of the study and the expertise of those who interpret the study. If you are particularly anxious about a cleft condition then let the ultrasound tech and radiologist know so they can look carefully for a cleft.
