Depression: You are manifesting signs and symptoms of depression and are resistant to suggestions for improvement. If you cannot take advice from that doctor then consult with another psychiatrist. The doctors can only do so much and cannot force you to do what seems most likely to be beneficial for you. Are you hearing this?

Alternatives: Your dr might be right and the best course of action would be meds. However, as a patient, and mostly if there is no serious risk to you or others, you may consider non-pharmacological approaches (psychotherapy, other alternative approved tools). Lifestyle changes (you mention stress, fatigue, anxiety; vacation, diet, leisure, sports, etc) along with dr guidance/checkups, may do miracles sometimes.
