Helpful...: Those are certainly good medications for modifying risk factors for heart disease but won't prevent entirely. They are very good for limiting complications in the event of a cardiac event. Add weight control, regular exercise, smoking cessation, diet modification and routine follow-up to evaluate their effectiveness.

Yes: These are good meds for lowering BP and cholesterol which, in turn, lowers your risk. Holistic measures include: attain and maintain normal body weight (bmi =25); daily exercise:at least 30 minutes, the more the better; eat a mediterranean diet (google this if you're not familiar). Don't smoke. Don't chew. Drink alcohol in moderation (not >2 drinks daily). Relax, be happy. Don't stress.
