A member asked:

Why would anyone want lasik just to have reading glasses when presbylasik (if eligible for it) is available that would not require reading glasses?

Age or visual : Requirement. People younger than age 39 may opt for lasik alone since they will not have presbyopia for 6-7 years. In my hands with presbyopic lasik there is often slight induced myopia for distant vision. Some people also have confusion in their vision when driving and look at high beams of oncoming cars. So i don't recommend it for people whose job is night driving.

Monovision : The majority of patients 45 years of age or older have monovision lasik to avoid the use of reading glasses. Some patients do not mind wearing reading glasses and have both eyes lasered for optimal distance vision.
