A member asked:

My 2 yo has had a mixture of large stools & constipation. small amt of blood mixed w/mucus on the outside. can fissure always be seen? i don't see it

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Needs an examination: Fissures are not always seen and can often be appreciated on exam. The bleeding you described is certainly suggestive of bleeding from a fissure or even a small tear (trauma) from passing a hard stool.
