A member asked:

Can cilia in the lungs and bronchi remove tiny foreign objects over time? (specifically a tiny piece of my pasta may have gone down the wrong way.)

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cilia: The mucociliary elevator of the bronchi does allow for small particles to be moved up and out of the lungs. Something as large as a noodle probably will be stuck for a long time and you may need medical intervention. See your doctor.
