Some- read on...: People with uc are at higher risk for colorectal cancer- this is due to the chronic inflammation of the bowel lining. Diverticulitis is rarely seen in uc. Occasionally, someone with colonic crohn's disease will also have colon diverticula noted, but it is controversial whether someone with crohn's colitis can have diverticulitis distinct from the crohn's.
