POSSIBLE, BUT: Best you are relatively responsive during study, as you will be capable of working far better with the technician. But many patients are quite claustrophobic, and require some sedation if a standard MRI machine is used. Some solutions include the newer open mri, and the stand-up setup. Discuss choices with your doctor, as the more open devices are a bit less precise.

Probably not: For most adults this is unnecessary and adds some potential risk. Some sedation is okay but unconsciousness is not desirable.
