Shoulder repair: Bankart surgery is a repair of the anterior inferior shoulder capsule and labrum--the structures that stabilize the shoulder against dislocation in that direction. Historically it was done open, through an incision along the front of the shoulder. Arthroscopic techniques are now most common. Results are good when properly indicated.
