you can actually: Take too much fiber and cause constipation. I don't use fiber supplements but tell patients to eat a healthy fiber diet. Also caffeine and alcohol dehydrate and contribute to constipation so keep the 80-100 ounces of fluids as caffeine free/alcohol free. Drink more if you exercise or travel by plane often.
