Variable: Your ors or assistant removed the cast i'm assuming ... After a fx. Of the foot or ankle swelling(esp.) and pain can persist for weeks after the fracture has healed . In some cases , swelling to some degree can last months.If you have persistent pain or increased swelling after your fracture has healed, see your ors for a check- up.

Depends: There is no specific way to determine how long it will last. It should decrease over time. Swelling can go on for 6 -12 months sometimes. If the pain is dull, that is normal. If the pain continues to increase or is very high, you should ask your doctor.
