How do doctors treat depression plus psychosis?

Safety first: We first ensure the person is safe by assessing for suicidal or homicidal thoughts. Generally, treatment is a combination of an antidepressant and an antipsychotic medication. If there is no response to treatment or the symptoms are very severe, electro-convulsive therapy (ECT) is also a treatment option.
