there are a lot of purported health benefits associated with eating cacao or cacao nibs. i found these whole cacao beans at the grocery store. why should i eat these as opposed to tastier chocolate?

Cacao Nibs: These beans are the basis for dark chocolate. They contain flavonoids which are very healthy. More and more foods are featuring cacao, and they are not, as far as we know, harmful. If you prefer the taste, continue to sample them!

to avoid sugar: Cacao has many proven health benefits but is bitter. Chocolate is basically cacao with added sugar. Sugar is toxic with many proven detriments. Thus, with cacao nibs you get all of the benefits without the downside of sugar. However, a good compromise is dark chocolate- at least 70% cocoa solids, but one with 85-90% cocoa solids is even better. See http://bit.Ly/1fnptkt ; http://bit.Ly/1gxkzhb.
