A member asked:

Does the length of the eyeball decrease with decrease in nearsightedness (myopic power in diopters)? if so, how does it affect the retina/vitreous?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I am not aware that the eye would ever decrease in length naturally. It is more likely to increase in length up to a certain point and age. A decrease in nearsightedness occurs commonly between age 45 and 65 due to more subtle changes in the curvature, lens and focusing ability of the eye. At other ages with curvature of the eye may lead to small changes in the prescription.
