A member asked:

Would lung cancer be detected on an x-ray when looking at the heart:?

Possibly.: A chest xray can detect lung cancer if the tumor is large enough and visible. A chest ct is a better test at 'looking' inside the lung tissue and detecting lung cancers.

Possibly: Chest x ray can show the lung fields and may show opacities (shadows) in the lungs if there large size cancers in the lung; however, smaller cancers can be missed on plain chest x rays and need ct scans; now annual ct scans for lung cacner screening are recommended for patients who are smokers; consult your doctor to see if that is appropriate for you.

Probably not: Lung cancer can often be missed on chest x-ray. Ct scan is a much better test for it.
