Why the pain?: I would be very concerned about why he seems to be in pain? Is is due to constipation or other abdominal problem associated with the gastroenteritis. If he is in pain he needs to be evaluated asap. Intestinal emergencies should a intussusception and volvulus can cause severe pain and are emergencies! see a doc soon! don't assume it is simple constipation!

Call Pediatrician: Seek professional advice from someone who knows your child and his/her situation as best / safest answer. Depending on baby's age, a glycerin suppository might be recommended to help things move.
