Thrombocytopenia: The most common cause of a nose bleed is trauma. This can either be a blow to the nose, irritation due to cold or nose picking. Also other causes include being on blood thinning agents, cancer, and other diseases of the blood. Hypertension can also cause nosebleeds.

Dryness: Dryness is much more like to cause nose bleeds than humidity. Also, nasal trauma (picking, wiping with a rough paper towel, etc) can also cause this. Use nasal saline and some vaseline in your nose. If it does not resolve in a few days, check with your doctor to make sure there is not something more serious going on.
